Create and manage communities
When you create a community, you become its administrator and manage that space. You set visibility and join requirements, approve member requests, and manage posts within the space.
Create a community
Section titled “Create a community”- From the header create menu, choose Community.
- Enter required information such as the community name and create the community.
Join requirements
Section titled “Join requirements”When creating a community, choose join requirements to define how members join.
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Anyone can join | No administrator approval is required. Eligible users become members immediately. |
| Administrator approval | People who want to join submit a request, and only those approved by an administrator become members. |
For private communities, administrator approval is required to join (automatic join is not available).
You can change join requirements after creation from community settings. If visibility is set to Private, join requirements automatically become “Administrator approval”.
Notes on visibility
Section titled “Notes on visibility”- Changing from Public to Private is allowed only within 30 days of creation.
- Changing from Private to Public is not allowed. Choose carefully when creating the community.
Member management
